It is with regret that I record the passing of Ennise Roma Tapp. For those of the NEW brigade, Ennise was the wife of deceased Life Member Bill Tapp and was well known around the club in the seventies, eighties, and nineties as a quietly spoken, likable person, who was always a huge support for her husband, the Club, and of course, her three children, Corinne, Janine, and Jonothan.
If you are one of the OLD brigade, you will remember the lady, a quiet unassuming person, always smiling and ready with a helping hand….no matter what the task might be. Over many years Ennise was the main support for Bill as he went about his many club duties, and, after Bill passed on, she was still around in the background with attendances at the clubs presentation nights and other functions.
A couple of years ago, Ennise suffered a stroke which left her with some co-ordination problems, but in true character, she continued her life as normally as possible, smiling and with good cheer, even though she was a resident in a care facility at the time. She looked forward to visits and lunches with many of her club member friends and would enjoy the company without exception. Always in good cheer and smiling.
More recently she suffered a series of strokes which led to her hospitalisation and a terminal diagnosis. She was in a coma for some time, and after a courageous rally, Ennise passed away quietly, surrounded by her family on 15th February 2018.
Indeed, it is sad to record the passing of Ennise, and on behalf of Garie Surf Lifesaving Club, we offer our sincere condolences to her immediate family, and to the host of good friends that were with her along the way. We will remember her fondly.
