pYesterday Afternoon at 1pm the members of Garies Surf Life Saving Club Incorporated  convened for  Garie Surf Life Saving Club’s 82nd Annual General Meeting

In summary During the meeting …

  • The minutes of the 81st Annual General Meeting were accepted,
  • The Annual Report and balance sheet for the 2023/24 Season was presented, and discussed
  • A motion to elect Anthony Graham as Life Member accepted and approved by vote
  • Board positions, and officers for the 2024/25 season were elected

Garie Road Update Precinct
At the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting, A discussion was held regarding the current issue around road access,
tClub President Brad Taylor ESM updating those in attendance “A new contractor has been awarded the tender under a Building Contract. the previous project was under a maintenance contract due to changing requirements and the increased scope of works the original maintenance contract had become insufficient to complete the required works.”  currently the estimated completion date is June 2025

Operations Update for the upcoming season
Further to the above Discsusions regarding patrols for the upcoming season were held. at a previous meeting held on Friday the 16th by Members of the board of directors met and agreed that patroling at Wattamolla for another season was no longer in the best interests of a our patroling members, with that said we stongly encourage patroling members to keep their proficiencies and awards up to date, and perhaps consider joining the Support Ops Group, or joining a patrol at another beach. 

New Life Member – Anthony Graham
Paticia Dillon who moved the motion read out a thorough synapses highlighting tony’s acheivements at Garie Surf Life Saving Club. Jessika Hay seconded the motion, also commending tony’s service to the surf club highlighting her experiences as a Mentor, and his eagerness to assist when ever tony is asked. Fellow Life Member and Tony’s Bronze Trainer also lauded tonys history at the club further mentioning that his bronze squad who also included olympian liz weeks as one of his most memorable

I want to thank on behalf of the club Patricia Dillon, Karen Cook, Lousie Skjieme for their services to the board for the past season.
Patricia Dillon: in addition to 7 years as treasurer from 1999/2000 to 2005/2006 season, Patricia completed an additional 5 years as Director of  Administration for seasons 2017/2018 through to the end of 2021/2022 , and most recently 2 years as Director of Member Services for seasons 2022/2023, and 2023/2024. total of 14 years of service to the board of Garie Surf Life Saving Club.
Karen Cook: is also stepping asside after completing 3years as Director of Finance, Karen, is also stepping aside after being our licensee for the past 5 seasons
Lousie Skjeime: Completed 1 Year as Director of Member Services. although what would seem a short tenure would have been up there with one of the most difficult seasons for the operations portfolio; especially considering managing patrols at Wattamolla.
