Welcome to The Garie Vanguard!

The Garie Vanguard is an exciting volunteer-led, grassroots initiative providing the communities of Western Sydney with the opportunity to become a surf lifesaver. Participants complete a pool-supported Surf Rescue Certificate/Surf Bronze Medallion or an Award in Radio Operations or First Aid at Auburn Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre and Garie Surf Life Saving Club.

Our program involves completion of an eight-week course designed to provide candidates with surf, swimming, team building, communication, first aid and work, health and safety skills and knowledge to participate in surf lifesaving activities with Garie Surf Life Saving Club.
Our innovative approach aims to assist people who are interested in becoming lifesavers and contributing to their community to access and move along the non-swimmer-to-pool swimmer-to-surf-lifesaver pathway and become community ambassadors for Surf Life Saving, health, fitness, well-being, change, and body positivity.
